New Young Academy Project on Ultrafast Spin Dynamics

© Mattia Benini/TU Dortmund
Overview of previous results on hybrid ferromagnet–molecule interfaces, like a glassy arrangement of the magnetization (a), experimentally detected magnetic vortexes (b), enhanced coercivity (c), multi-timescale magnetization dynamics (d) and light-tuneable magnetization precession frequency (e).
Dr. Mattia Benini has received project funding from the TU Dortmund Young Academy for his project "Ultrafast spin dynamics in emergent interfacial magnetic states".

The project focuses on hybrid magnetic interfaces, where molecular layers modify the properties of ferromagnetic materials, giving rise to interface-driven magnetic states. Using ultrafast optical spectroscopy, the project aims to investigate how these states respond on sub-picosecond to sub-nanosecond time scales, with the long-term goal of identifying novel routes to induce unconventional spin dynamics at hybrid interfaces.
